Brilliant rustic decor, fitting of a Texan or western American feel. Food was tasty. We got the wings and spicy bag, both of which we really liked. Mash with the bangers and goujons was a bit cold though. Milkshake was yum. Kids meal free with adult meal was a nice touch for the purse.
Response from the owner
Thank you so much Tushar, apologies for the mash....

What an amazing find in the town of Athlone! We were on a ladies retreat getaway for the weekend (without kids!) And this was suggested and it was absolutely the best place!
We had a group of 15 ish and the service was top notch. The manager and the lead waitress lady was very attentive. They told us too that there was a bigger group (foreign students) coming so told us where better to sit, in order to have more privacy. The food took a little while, but with our big group and other big group, the restaurant was filled!! We didn't care cos we were just having a great time! Menu choices were great and prices were good too. Our lead waitress (and i never asked for her name so sorry!) was a drink specialist and made some good drinks for us. And she distinctively remembers each person's order cos she made a b-line for the individual every time she brought a dish out! It's a great sign of being a great waitress :) The manager/owner (Peter) was very accommodating too when we have special requests for our group. Honestly I will come back to eat here even without the retreat!!! We were actually half planning to come back again during the retreat for a second meal but we ran out of time haha. Amazing place and people! There's a parking lot too, not huge, but definitely enough to get a space!

Edit: have to add in possible food poison to one of children from the chicken curry and drop to a one star. No way to prob this mind, but she was up vomiting for the night and had nothing else that could have caused it either.
Probably would have given this a 3 overall but the price point drops it to a two.
I got the steak sambo, it was poor. Mushrooms were rubbery, meat was tough, but worst of all the ciabatta was cold, toast the bread it'll hold better and not go soggy with the peppercorn sauce (which was thin and relatively bland).
Wife had ribs, they were very dry.
Kids had a combo which incorporated ribs, wings, etc. looked well enough but the wings overcooked (not burned) and dry.
Coleslaw was cheap, store bought and a little funky tbh.
No mash, no pasta which are both on the menu (place only open an hour).
Wait staff never checked after service so lost out on an extra drink order and a tip tbh (was not busy at the time),
Overall wouldn't recommend, we were able to eat the food however so def not a 1 star and as I said, only for the price point would probably be a 3. Maybe Sunday is the chef's day off 🤔
